Respect - A Tribute to Aretha Franklin

Following the sad passing of the great Aretha Franklin, many at PBS were personally affected. To honour and pay respects to the original queen of soul, PBS is proud to announce a tribute gig at The Corner Hotel, Saturday October 27.

Featuring performances from some of Melbourne's greatest vocalists including Kylie AuldistthandoElla Thompson, Bec Rigby (The Harpoons), Stella Angelico, Ruth Rogers Wright and Hannah Acfield and The Holy Hallelujahs.

Joining this huge line-up of guest vocalists is the all-female SPIRE Ensemble

Long time PBS DJs, Miss Goldie of Boss Action and Vince Peach of Soul Time are also joining in, performing DJ sets to open and close the night. Both have expressed their deep connection to Aretha with Goldie saying, "with one song Aretha Franklin changed my life. On the flip of the Chain of Fools 45 sat a ballad that resonated deeply with me. Aretha Franklin’s 'Prove It' started my love affair with deep soul which continues to this day.”

Tickets are now on sale via the Corner Hotel website with PBS members receiving a 15% member discount. PBS members can email events@pbsfm.org.au with their name and member number to receive their discount code.
We would like to acknowledge that this event takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge elders of this land, past, present and emerging.

This is a Bandmates Victoria friendly event. The Corner Hotel is a wheelchair accessible venue.
